Inactivity on the Community plan

On the free Community plan, a team stays connected as long as someone uses it. If nobody has used a team for 60 days, we ask the grid operator to disconnect its smart meters. The team owner gets an email at least 14 days beforehand, and one login is enough to keep the meters connected.

Paid plans have no such rule, and neither does a team during its trial.

What counts as use

Any of these resets the 60 days:

  • a member of the team logs in to energiedaten.at
  • one of the team's API keys is used
  • a connected app, such as an AI assistant linked to the team, retrieves data

For a new team, the 60 days start on the day the team was created.

The warning email

At least 14 days before the disconnection, the team owner gets an email with the date on which we will disconnect the meters. If someone logs in or uses the API before that date, the meters stay connected and the 60 days start again.

What disconnecting means

On that date, we send the grid operator a revocation for every connected meter of the team, the same message the Disconnect button on the meter page sends. The meter shows "Disconnect pending" until the grid operator confirms, then "Not connected". After that, the meter receives no new data.

The team owner gets one email that lists the meters. The meters stay in your account, and the data collected so far stays for as long as your plan's data retention allows. Integration test meters are not affected.

If the team then has no connected meter and no open connection request, we delete it with its data after a further 60 days, and the owner gets a warning email 14 days before. To keep the team, connect a meter or request a connection before then; logging in alone does not stop the deletion.

Reconnecting a meter

Open the meter and click Connect. This starts a new consent process: the meter owner confirms the request with the grid operator, and data arrives again once the grid operator has approved it.

If the team should stay connected without regular logins, a paid plan does that.
