Your Own EDA Connection (BYO)

If your team runs its own communication endpoint for the EDA network (KEP), you keep its access data on the EDA Connection page. Your consent requests and your measurement data then travel through your endpoint instead of ours.

Who has this page

The page exists for teams that bring their own endpoint. Today that is the BYO Pro and Enterprise plans, and it is not available while a BYO Pro team is still on a trial. On the plans with our shared endpoint, there is nothing to set up, and the menu entry does not appear. The pricing page shows which plans use their own endpoint.

You find the page in the menu under Administration → EDA Connection.

Fill in the connection

Choose a Market Partner and a Transport. The remaining fields depend on the transport.

Field Email Ponton Meaning
Market Partner yes yes The market partner, chosen from a searchable list
Host no yes Address of your Ponton server
Incoming Port yes no Port for incoming messages
EDA address yes yes The EDA address of your endpoint
Username yes yes Username for your endpoint
Password yes yes Required the first time; leave it empty later to keep the stored password
Enabled yes yes Switch the connection on or off

Click Save EDA Connection. The connection is stored for your team, and from then on your meters use it.

Test the connection

The Test Connection button appears at the top of the page once the connection is saved, so save first and test afterwards. What the test checks depends on the transport:

  • Ponton: it tries to open a network connection to your host and port. This page has no field for a port, so if the test reports that host and port are required, contact us.
  • Email: it checks that the EDA address is a valid email address and that our platform's outgoing mail server accepts a connection. It does not check your own mail host.

The test only runs once EDA address, username, password and transport are saved. A green result means that check passed. The test does not log in with your username and password and does not send a message to a grid operator, so it cannot prove that every setting is right. If the test fails, the app says so and asks you to check your settings.

Changing the endpoint

Consents are tied to the endpoint they were requested through. If you move meters from our shared endpoint to your own, each meter goes through the consent process again, including the confirmation in the grid operator's portal.
